Master Key Systems
Secure Lock Solutions designs and implements professional master key systems for businesses and properties throughout Orange County. Streamline access management while maintaining security.
How Master Key Systems Work
A master key system creates a hierarchy of keys. Individual keys (change keys) open only specific locks, while master keys open multiple locks. This lets you control who can access what:
- Change Key: Opens one specific lock (employee's office)
- Sub-Master Key: Opens a group of locks (department manager)
- Master Key: Opens all locks (building manager)
- Grand Master Key: Opens all locks in multiple buildings (owner)
Benefits
- Convenience: Managers carry one key instead of dozens
- Security: Employees only access areas they need
- Control: Easy to manage who has access to what
- Cost-Effective: Cheaper than electronic access for many applications
- Reliability: Works without power or internet
Applications
Apartment Buildings
Tenants have keys only to their unit. Building manager has master key for all units plus common areas. Maintenance staff might have sub-master for specific floors.
Office Buildings
Employees access their office. Department heads access their department. Building management accesses everything. Cleaning crew accesses common areas after hours.
Hotels
Guests access only their room. Housekeeping accesses assigned floors. Management accesses all rooms for emergencies.
Our Process
- Consultation to understand your access needs
- Survey of all existing locks and doors
- Design custom key hierarchy
- Install or rekey locks to master key specs
- Cut and distribute keys with documentation

Restricted Keyways
For added security, we offer restricted keyway systems. These use patented key profiles that cannot be duplicated at hardware stores. Only authorized locksmiths with proper documentation can make copies, preventing unauthorized key duplication.
